Saturdays at Siddhartha School:
Nurturing Confidence and Creativity Through Speech
At Siddhartha School, Saturdays are dedicated to co-curricular activities—an essential part of our holistic approach to education. These weekly sessions are designed to ignite creativity, foster teamwork, and bring joy to our students outside the traditional classroom setting.

On the last Saturday in March, this was no exception. The school hosted its Interhouse Senior English Speech Competition and Interhouse Junior English Elocution Competition, inspiring showcases of oratory skill, confidence, and critical thinking.

Public speaking is a powerful life skill often overlooked in standard curricula, but at Siddhartha School, we see it as vital. The ability to present ideas clearly and confidently across languages opens doors and builds self-assurance, particularly for students in Ladakh who are learning to navigate both their cultural roots and a rapidly modernizing world.
Our senior students tackled a timely topic: “The Pros and Cons of Social Media,” exploring its impact on society, communication, and well-being. Meanwhile, our junior students took to the stage to speak on a subject close to our hearts: “How Can We Better Protect Our Mother Earth?,” a theme that resonates deeply in the fragile Himalayan ecosystem they call home.
Judges evaluated each performance based on fluidity, creativity, and clarity of speech. More than just a competition, the event was a joyful and meaningful exercise in voice and vision—giving students the chance to be heard, to reflect, and to inspire.

Through events like this, the Siddhartha School Partnership continues to support our mission: blending a modern, global education with the preservation of Ladakh’s unique culture and values. Thank you for helping make this possible. Your support ensures that our students not only learn—but thrive.
