The supporters of Siddhartha School help families in need financially with tuition and essential school services, one of the many ways the Siddhartha community helps students build futures beyond the classroom. This week, we’re profiling Tsetan Namgyal, who was recently appointed to a government position in Ladakh as a veterinary pharmacist.

While many sponsors exchange letters and emails with their students, some travel to Ladakh to meet them in person. In this case, the connection became a lifelong relationship, not only with the sponsor but with her son as well.

decent career growth opportunities. But the path was not straight. I’d prepared for the banking exams to pursue that. I came very close but missed the final section at the last stage, so I did not get the position. It was difficult to accept.

After that, I was selected as a wildlife anti-poaching guard and worked for that department for two years. When new recruitment opportunities in Ladakh were announced this year, I restarted my preparation with renewed focus and determination. This time I succeeded, and I am now working as a veterinary pharmacist.

I work for the government of the Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh, under the Department of Animal Husbandry. I’m currently in training as a veterinary pharmacist, where I’m learning how medications are dispensed to animals as per veterinary office prescriptions. I’m also observing and assisting with proper dosage calculations, along with learning the correct methods for administering vaccines and correct medication dosages.

My school, Siddhartha, played a strong foundational role in this journey. It not only built my discipline but also gave me a strong basis in mathematics, which turned out to be a significant advantage during my preparation and selection process.

Looking back, every setback, every lesson, and every bit of support played a role in bringing me here. Getting my appointment letter from the governor means a lot to me. It validates the struggles, the patience, and the effort I put in over the years. At the same time, I see it not as an endpoint, but as a responsibility and a new beginning.

For the future, I want to concentrate on growing and giving my best whenever new opportunities come my way.
