Teaching Technology Through an Interhouse Quiz Show

The Junior, Intermediate, and Senior Interhouse Mathematics, Information, and Technology Quiz brought learning to life with its theme “Aryabhatta oGanit Challenge.” Rooted in the legacy of Aryabhatta, one of India’s greatest mathematicians, who expanded the understanding of zero, the event celebrated ganit, the Sanskrit word for “mathematics,” as both a discipline and a way of thinking about the world.

STEM studies, whose acronym stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, are taught not as isolated subjects, but as an integrated way of learning that builds critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. In the classrooms at the Siddhartha School, this approach encourages students to ask questions, test ideas, and apply knowledge to real-life challenges, preparing them to engage with a rapidly changing world.

The quiz competition focused on technology and asked teams to answer questions ranging from identifying prominent technology icons and their contributions to global technology to specifics on STEM and computer application knowledge. It was a learning event enjoyed by all.

By connecting ancient wisdom like Aryabhatta’s with modern STEM learning, students are not only strengthening their academic foundations but also developing the confidence and curiosity to innovate, collaborate, and contribute meaningfully to their communities and beyond.
