A Warm Homecoming for Our Founder, Khensur Rinpoche
Earlier this week, teachers and staff gathered for tea to warmly welcome Siddhartha School founder Khensur Rinpoche Lobzang Tsetan back to Stok village. After spending the winter months at Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in Bylakuppe, South India, where he once served as abbot, Rinpoche has returned to his home next door to the Siddhartha School and plans to resume his regular campus visits as soon as he is rested.

His homecoming was filled with heartfelt conversation, laughter, tea, and fruit as he caught up on recent school developments and reconnected with the team. We are happy to share that Rinpoche is in great health and looking forward to attending the school’s 30th Anniversary Celebration on July 8.

An Earth Day Update
Thank you to all our supporters who reached out with concern for the Siddhartha School community during last week’s snowfall and landslide warnings in Leh. On Earth Day, regional schools were closed following a government advisory due to extreme weather. We’re grateful to report that the Siddhartha School sustained no damage, and classes have safely resumed. Earth Day activities were only slightly delayed—and were joyfully celebrated once students returned.
A few days ago, students, staff, and parents came together for a vibrant tree-planting campaign on campus. Originally scheduled for April 22 in honor of Earth Day, the event was postponed due to the three-day school closure. With great spirit, the community planted flowers, seeds, and willow saplings throughout the school grounds. This season always brings a sense of renewal to the region, following the long, subzero months typical of the Himalayan range. Our school secretary and foreign liaison, Mr. Tsering Angchuk, shared these pictures of the event below.
